In short
Your words stay yours. Your journal, prayers, notes and progress are stored on your phone and in your own private iCloud backup. We can't read them.
No ads. No selling. We don't sell or rent your data, show ads, or share anything with advertisers or data brokers.
Some usage analytics. We see how the app is used (for example, which steps get finished) so we can make it better.
Prayer Circle is optional. Only if you open it do we store what you choose to share with the friends you invite.
Delete any time. Delete your circle account in the app, or email us and we'll delete the rest.
1.About this policy
This policy covers the iPhone app My Daily Prayer Journal: Bible ("the app") and this website, prayerjournalapp.com. "We" and "us" means OLVR Studio (UEN 53534746D), the Singapore business that makes the app and publishes it on the App Store. If you have a question about anything here, email [email protected].
Prayers and reflections can reveal your faith and what you're going through, so we have tried to collect as little as possible and to say plainly what we do collect.
2.What stays on your phone
These are stored on your iPhone and are never sent to us:
- your check-ins, journal answers, prayers you write or pray, and your pledges and steps for tomorrow;
- your Bible reading, notes, highlights, course and story progress, and quiz answers;
- your village, character, Manna, medals and calendar.
iCloud backup. If iCloud is on for the app, it also saves a backup file in your own private iCloud storage, so your data survives a reinstall or a new phone. That copy belongs to your Apple account. We can't see it.
Export. You can export your journal as a text file from Settings. It is created on your phone and goes only where you choose to send it.
3.What we collect, and why
Everything that leaves your phone, in one table. Scroll sideways on a small screen.
| Data | Why | Who stores it, and where | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| App events, a random user ID, the first name and goals you enter during setup, approximate location (country or city, estimated from your IP address) | To understand how the app is used and improve it | PostHog, United States | Up to two years |
| Your user ID, first name, goals, plan name, chosen character, and subscription status | To show and personalise the subscription screen | Superwall, United States | While you use the app, then per Superwall's retention |
| Payment and billing details | To process your subscription | Apple only. We never see your card | Per Apple's policy |
| Prayer Circle account and what you share (see section 6) | So friends you invite can pray with you | Supabase, Singapore | Until you delete it |
| Push notification token and app language (Prayer Circle only) | So friends can nudge you or tell you they prayed | Supabase, Singapore; delivered by Expo's push service, United States | Until you delete your circle account |
| Your IP address and device type when the app downloads story pictures or app updates | To deliver pictures and updates to the app | Supabase (Singapore) and Expo (United States), in standard server logs | Short-term server logs |
| Feedback you send: your email, message, first name and user ID | To read and reply to your feedback | Cloudflare (relay) and a private Telegram chat read by the developer | Until it's dealt with, or until you ask us to delete it |
| Your email on the Android waitlist | To tell you when the Android app is ready | Supabase, Singapore | Until Android launches and we've told you, or until you ask |
4.Analytics
We use PostHog to learn how the app is used: for example, which onboarding steps people finish, whether nights get completed, and whether reminders are opened. It receives app events, a random user ID, the first name you enter, the goals you pick during setup, and an approximate location that PostHog estimates from your IP address. It never receives your journal, prayers, notes or anything you write.
Tracking prompt. Your iPhone may show Apple's "Allow tracking?" prompt. Whatever you choose, the app does not read your device's advertising identifier, does not show ads, and does not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
5.Subscriptions
Subscriptions are bought through Apple, and Apple handles payment. We never see your card or billing details. Superwall shows the subscription screen. It receives your user ID, first name, goals, the name of your plan and your character (to personalise the screen), and whether you're subscribed.
6.Prayer Circle (optional)
Nothing is sent to our server for Prayer Circle until you choose to open it. When you do, the app creates an anonymous account for you, with no email or password, and stores the following with our database provider, Supabase (hosted in Singapore):
- your anonymous account ID and the display name you choose;
- your avatar, streak, how many of tonight's steps you've done, your village and your badges, so friends can see them;
- what you choose to share: prayer requests, one-line reflections, reactions, prayers for friends, and progress in plans you read together;
- who is in your circle, invites, nudges, and anyone you block or report;
- your time zone offset, so shared plans line up with your day;
- a push notification token, if you allow notifications.
Only people who join your circle with your invite code can see what you share. There is no public profile or directory. Your journal, prayers, notes and readings are never shared. Posts pass a word filter on your phone before they're sent, and you can report or block anyone. Prayer requests disappear from your circle after 7 days.
7.Features that stay on your device
- Reminders and timers. Evening reminders, the phone-down timer and Goodnight mode use notifications scheduled on your phone. The reminder that quotes your step for tomorrow is written on your phone.
- Goodnight mode. To check that the phone stays down, the app notes on your phone when it is locked or left. This never leaves your phone.
- Night lock (Screen Time). If you choose to lock apps at bedtime, Apple's Screen Time lets you pick the apps. Apple does not tell us which apps you picked or how you use them, and nothing is sent to us.
- Safari filter. The optional content blocker gives Safari a fixed list of adult websites to block. Safari does the blocking. The app can't see the sites you visit.
- Reading aloud. Prayers read aloud use your iPhone's built-in voice, on your phone. The app never records you and doesn't use the microphone, camera, contacts, photos or precise location.
- Widget. The home screen widget reads from the app on your phone.
8.Feedback
If you send feedback from Settings, we receive your message, the email you enter, your first name and your user ID. It is passed through a small Cloudflare service to a private Telegram chat that only the developer reads. We use it only to read your feedback and reply.
9.Android waitlist
If you join the Android waitlist on this website, we store your email address and the time you signed up (in Supabase, Singapore). We use it only to tell you when the Android app is available. We won't send marketing or share it with anyone. We delete the list after we've announced the Android launch, and you can ask us to remove your email at any time by writing to [email protected] or using the unsubscribe link in that email.
10.This website
This website is hosted by Cloudflare, which keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver and protect the site. The site sets no cookies, uses no analytics or ads, and loads its fonts from our own server.
11.What we never do
- We don't sell or rent your data.
- We don't show ads or share data with advertisers or data brokers.
- We don't read your journal, prayers or notes.
- We don't send what you write to AI services. The app makes no AI calls.
- We don't use the microphone, camera, contacts, photos or precise location.
12.How long we keep it
- On your phone and in iCloud: until you delete it.
- Prayer Circle: until you delete your circle account. Prayer requests leave your circle after 7 days.
- Analytics: up to two years.
- Feedback: as long as needed to reply, or until you ask us to delete it.
- Android waitlist: until the Android launch has been announced, or until you ask.
13.Deleting your data
- Prayer Circle: in the app, go to Settings > Prayer Circle > "Leave and delete my circle account". This deletes your circle account and everything you shared from our servers.
- Journal and progress: delete the app to remove the data on your phone. To remove the iCloud copy, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Storage on your iPhone.
- Analytics, subscription screen data, feedback or the waitlist: email [email protected] and we'll delete it. It helps to include your user ID, which you'll find in the app's feedback form.
14.Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe, the UK GDPR, Singapore's PDPA or California's CCPA), you can ask to access, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Email us and we'll reply within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on your consent for Prayer Circle, the waitlist and feedback; on performing our contract with you to provide the app and subscriptions; and on our legitimate interest in improving the app for analytics.
15.Children
The app isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has used Prayer Circle or joined the waitlist, contact us and we'll delete it.
16.Security and international transfers
Data sent from the app travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Prayer Circle data is protected by access rules, so each person can only read what their circle is allowed to see. Our providers are in Singapore and the United States, so your data may be processed outside your country. We only use providers that protect it with appropriate safeguards.
17.Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top. For important changes, we'll also tell you in the app.
18.Contact
